Our 5th anniversary is an occasion to celebrate God’s sustained faithfulness as we continue to participate in His mission to reach the community around us. With joy and excitement, we celebrate this day because of the unprecedented changes we have had the privilege of witnessing at the GSCC.
These past 5 years, we have witnessed God’s faithfulness through the work He has done and continues to do in our midst. He truly is and has been the chief architect of this church, partnering with its members in reaching the community one life at a time. As such we all participate in something grand and glorious – the advancement of God’s own impact in our community as He continues to partner with us as His hands, feet and mouth in carrying out this mission for Him.
GSCC has been amazingly blessed with intergenerational ministries. On our 4th year, the prayer of the church leadership seeking God to give us leaders He would use to reach the generation of young adults had been answered. God led key leaders and potential future leaders of this church in laying the foundation of the young adult ministry to whom the “baton” will be handed over for our continuous participation in God’s mission to reach the community. Moreover, spiritual maturity is becoming evident in the lives of many of our members who have also been reaching out to others and inviting people to attend GSCC services, evidenced by the consistent increase in church attendance that we are joyfully and thankfully experiencing.
Nobody can deny that God has brought us a long way. He continues to work with us, in us and through us. As we close the first 5 years of GSCC, we begin to look towards the future as we excitedly anticipate watching God’s plan for this church to unfold. GSCC will focus on the opportunity to expand God’s kingdom. The next 5 years may sound “bigger than you,” but rest assured, it is smaller than the God who is at work in us. The same God who orchestrated the establishing of GSCC during the first 5 years, the same God who has been faithful and remains faithful, will continue to work in our midst and give us the much needed wisdom, guidance and ability to develop skills you never knew you had.
Everyone in the ministry will function in a far more efficient manner as we continue to remember that we are servants to God. While we minister to others, we are in actuality serving our Lord. I want you to know that the fulfillment that comes from seeing a life changed by the Good News through your ministry will make it worthwhile. I also want you to know that I am here to assist you in any way I possibly could, but most of all, I want you to know that I will be praying for you.
We are truly blessed with a congregation that is ALIVE and WELL. Thank you for serving our Lord with love. Thank you for your sacrificial efforts, your love, support and fellowship. Only eternity will reveal the ultimate reward; but for now, thank you. Keep looking at Jesus and to God be the Glory!
In Christ,
Pastor Oyette Fernando
