The Do Over Mentality

As the clock ticked away the last two hours of 2010, the GSCC family gathered in worship to close the past year and welcome the New Year. Pastor Jun Caruz, in his message, said God is giving us a do-over so we can correct the things we messed up in the previous year. God is giving us a chance to walk with Him tonight and again experience the joy of our salvation, a chance to concentrate on what He wants for us to happen in our life, a chance to realize our full potentials. For us the challenge is to enter the New Year with a do-over mentality as we search a life which can have meaning only if we consult Him for His plan, know His purpose for us and partake with His provisions

The New Year’s eve service culminated in a candle-lighting ceremony led by Pastor Virgil Fernando where the GSCC family lighted each other’s candle to symbolize everyone’s commitment to assist one another in facing the new year as we strive to live a life for Jesus. The light will guide our paths so we can live our lives according to the plan, purpose and provision of God. It is a reminder that if we commit to the Lord whatever we do, our plans will succeed. (Proverbs 16) It is the light symbolizing our trust in God’s plan to bless us, to prosper us, to protect us with His boundless mercy and love. Likewise, the ceremony is an affirmation that if we trust in the Lord, He will keep us safe , and an act of thanksgiving to God for sustaining us in the past year as He kept us in His protective embrace.
